Maloaee

Scotland Saturday November 28th

We slept in a little, ate breakfast and headed towards home. We had a long drive south. We drove from Glencoe to Falkirk (2.5 hours) to see the Falkirk Wheel. We never would have found it without Tom Tom. It was incredible. It joins two canals. It is hard to explain so google search it if you are wondering. Plus we even saw Santa there, he is blurry because he is dancing. After the Wheel we were determined to get home tonight. We drove for 6 more hours through some pretty countryside. It then got dark so we couldn't see anything. We arrived at the Schmidt's to pick up Maloaee at 8. We then drove home. After 8.5 hours in the car we were so happy to be back and Suzy was glad to see us. Scotland is an incredible place and we hope to go back someday.

Scotland Friday November 27th

We got up early, ate a large breakfast and then headed farther north to Loch Ness. We drove all the way around Loch Ness and still did not see anything. We stopped at a museum and a gift shop. The museum was all about the different theories and how they proved them all wrong. The gift shop was awesome!! Who doesn't like gift shops. We then stopped at Urquhardt castle to snap some pics. Loch Ness was really pretty but we were disappointed that we did not spot Nessie. We saw some questionable prospects but we don't believe them to the be the real Nessie. We then headed back towards our hotel. We drove a long a one lane scenic road that was recommended to us. It was pretty, but foggy, so we couldn't see a whole lot. We had been in the car for a long time and we were ready to hit the Whiskey Distillery. We went to Ben Nevis distillery in Ben Nevis. They were not producing Whiskey at the moment but we had a nice talk with the man who works there. He explained the differences and wanted to talk to us about America, he brought up the Obama's and had been to AZ. With a couple bottles of Whiskey we headed back to the hotel to drink whiskey and pass out.

Thanksgiving in Scotland

We woke up early and had a large delicious homemade breakfast. We then headed out to see Hadrian's Wall. Through conversation the night before we learned that it is very popular to walk along the wall in the spring and summer months. It is about 84 miles long. People walk about 15 miles a day and stay at the B&B's along the way, there are A LOT of them! Hadrian's wall was extremely impressive and we hope to go walk along it some day. The weather was not the best hiking weather. We took some pics and then continued north to Glencoe Scotland. As we were driving it was beautiful. There were snow covered mountains with waterfalls everywhere. We arrived in Glencoe at about 4:00. The hotel was nice and even had an indoor pool. There was not much to do so we headed to the pub to get dinner. Well they didn't start serving dinner till 5:30. So what did we do? We had a couple beers until it was 5:30. Brad had lasagna and I had steak and dumpling casserole for our Thanksgiving feast. It was all very good. Plus we acquired a couple of glasses for our collection. We then went swimming and webcammed with the Phipps' clan in Seattle. Then it was off to bed to rest up for another full day!

Scotland Wednesday November 25th

We headed out from our house at 2:30 on Wednesday. We dropped off the dog at a friends house and headed north for our 5 hour drive. We drove for a couple of hours and then stopped for a nutrious dinner at Burger King. We finally arrived at the B&B around 8:30, after some scary dark roads. Tom Tom pulled through as always. For those of you that do not know Tom Tom is our GPS system. It will be referenced a lot in the Scotland blogs. We sat down with the nice couple that own the B&B and chatted for about 2 hours. They were wonderful people who had some great stories. We then mentioned getting a beer and we had to rush to get to the pub before it closed. After our beer at the local pub we headed to bed.

Momma D comes to England!!

Momma D came to visit the end of October. We had a blast. On Saturday October 31st we took her to the Bury market and then came home to hand our candy for Halloween. We ran out in the first hour. It was crazy, we had a line from our door to the street. On Sunday November 1st we went into Cambridge and walked around. We also carved pumpkins for Halloween! Unfortuantely Brad and I had to work so she had to hang out at home, which was ok because she was a little under the weather. Can't wait to see her back here in April with Poppa G.
