No Longer Home Owners

For those of you that have not heard, Brad and I are not longer home owners. We are so happy to be done with the house. We loved that house but had to move on. Hopefully some day we will get to have another one. We only lived there for a year but there were a lot of memories made. Thank you to everyone who supported us through the stressful times of selling it. This celebration is as much yours as it is ours.

Newmarket Horse Races

On Friday the 7th of August we went to the Newmarket Horse Races. Newmarket is world renowned for the breeding and racing of very expensive champion race horses. We went with our friends from Seattle who were visiting, Eryn and Justin, and our friends here, Brittany and Austin. After the race their was a concert, Scouting For Girls. Definitely not our new favorite band. It was a great time and definitely a common social event for the British.

Brad's Promotion

We found out on Thursday at 2pm our time that Bradley passed the test and is getting promoted to Staff Sergeant. It is very exciting and I am so proud of him. He studied hard and tested in May. Yes it took that long for the results to be in. Out of 15,000 people that made it he will sew on number 2,524. That will probably be late October early November. He is really excited to be taking the next step in his career.

Our Getaway

August 10th - August 17th 2009

After Eryn and Justin's arrival in the UK we headed out to Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. We left Ely early Monday the 10th of August and headed to Kings Cross train station in London. We then had to take the tube to the airport from there. A long journey but worth it. When we finally arrived in the Canary Islands we celebrated with a nice cold Tropical, the local beer. The highlight of our trip was the marriage of our two close friends Eryn and Justin. It was a perfect ceremony on the ocean followed by an incredible meal with decadent meats and sauces. We spent days by the pool sipping ice cold beers and relaxing, something we all needed. On Saturday we rented a Ford Torneo, a short bus type mini van, and headed up into the mountains. It was a very curvy road which lead to renaming the van the vomit van, there were no incidents due to Justin's extrodinary driving skills, but definately the possiblity. We saw many beautiful places and met some interesting locals. We ended the day at the sand dunes with a refreshing dip in the ocean and dinner overlooking the water. We were sad to return to England but excited for some cool weather!
